Board Positions

Nonprofit board of director positions are the individual roles comprising the governing body at a nonprofit organization. The members of a nonprofit board make key decisions and plans on behalf of the organization While each position on the nonprofit board generally performs different specific responsibilities, the board shares many crucial duties, such as: Attending meetings, determining or updating the protocol, rules, and processes that govern the nonprofit, managing the organization's budget, embodying the organization's mission, values, and culture, brain storm for ideas on continued growth within the organization as well as creative ideas for events and seminars to enable the building of relationships across the street.

President: The President supervises and assists the entire board. She oversees all board meetings and typically serves as the primary contact person of the nonprofit. The primary goal of the President is to ensure that every person involved with the nonprofit embodies the organization's values and that everyone works toward common objectives. Additional responsibilities might include: Establishing goals for the board, appointing board members to serve as chairs for specific committees, creating agendas for board meetings, and ensuring others continue to do the duties of each specific role while making sure the by-laws are followed and updated accordingly.

Co-president: Exactly the same duties as the President. They work hand in hand together and split up duties accordingly. Neither one has more power nor a higher title.

Vice President: The Vice President substitutes for the Co-Presidents as needed. They closely collaborate with the Presidents on many of their key duties or simply perform those duties when the Presidents cannot or delegate for them to do so. The Vice President is also in charge of organizing the outreach for soliciting sponsorship of our events. The Vice President is typically one of the top candidates to replace the Presidents at the end of their term. The responsibilities can vary based on the board's exact structure but may include the following: Performing special tasks or projects assigned by the board president, evaluating or updating the nonprofit's policies, developing or altering the organization's mission statement alongside fellow board members, overseeing some of the board's committees.

Treasurer: The Treasurer is the primary person responsible for the nonprofit's books and bank account. The Treasurer typically has professional experience in accounting or financial management. Managing the organization's budget can entail an array of duties for a treasurer, including: Filing local and or federal taxes with the WSA Accountant, keeping documentation on all events, reconciling the books/ bank account, providing the board members with access to the financials as well as quarterly updates as to where we stand financially (this can be done verbally on a call and/or via email). The Treasurer will create a website link and request that the membership pay their dues. Make sure that money collected via paypal and square are transferred to the WSA bank account. Pay bills as needed.

Secretary: Will respond to all incoming inquiries that come in via the website or g-mail account. The Secretary is in charge of communicating with the membership from the g-mail account regarding event invitations or miscellaneous communications as necessary. Work with programmer on any website design that might be necessary. Collect any contracts or pertinent data and add to the google drive for the WSA g-mail account so that everything is documented for future management teams. The Secretary will be responsible for scheduling the board meetings and providing zoom and or physical details for the others to dial into and or attend in person.

Event Committee Chair: Assist and work on planning events. Liaison between the Catering Company and Board in preparation for Event. Solicit and organize volunteers. Prepare website invitation. Send invitation information to S&P Global and Dealogic wire services prior to events, as well as do what is needed to make that specific event a success.

Membership Committee Chair: Will work to recruit membership with assistance from the entire team. Once a new member is voted in, they will send a welcome letter via the website. It is very important to properly label accepted members and keep them updated in the system as their contact information and work status could change. The member database is what we utilize to contact individuals on events, so this will hold true for the member and non-member/ street contact information.

Executive Board: This will consist of 2-3 Past Presidents of the organization that continue to stay on the board and assist with all events, ideas, and suggestions brought up on their call. They can give their insight and knowledge on the past.
